The snow fall lightly over the city.
It falls on the trees in the parks.
We are wrapped in the white tent,
like a white sea,
What is that sea for us, Gypsies
It arrives at our knees
in that city stupendous as a fairy tale
we forget what we were yesterday.
Thirst and hunger,
Fear of not surviving,
When the Germans threw the Gypsies
out of their tents to shoot them.
Years are threaded like pearls.
After winter, summer arrives.
Many princes have changed, like the years,
but the Gypsies have not been lured
anywhere.
Another year has gone by ...
Another year has gone by happily...
It arrived, it passed, it has disappeared ...
We await the new one with joy.
In this city beautiful as a fairy tale
at table I lift my glass/
and ask God for a sea of fortune and health to the Gypsies!
