In the difference between traveller and migrant
the dissimilar motives: the first follows maps
the second the hope of one I tell you, with opposite goals.
In the end you see how and what memory maintains,
but already the word divides: more than the route the reason
more than the direction the duration…for one is awaited
possibility of re-entry, for the other return is denied
to the beloved place…
Fabiano Alborghetti was born Milan in 1970 and lives in Lugano. He has worked as a photographer and as a playwright. He work is included in several poetry anthologies, and he collaborates closely with various publishing houses and with the magazines "Adiacenze" (www.milanocosa.it), "Le voci della luna" (www.levocidellaluna.it) and "Tellus" (www.tellusfolo.it). He is co-founder of the newborn magazine "L'Attenzione" (www.lattenzione.it). He has published Verso Buda (LietoColle 2004) and his L'opposta riva is about to be published (again by LietoColle). The text published here is taken from this work, whose theme is "clandestine" immigrants in Italy, with whom Alborgetti lived between 2001 and 2004. Divided into three sections – dedicated respectively to country of origin, journey and integration in our country – this collection is structured around the interweaving voices of the protagonists themselves, a sort of Spoon River of the living.
