painting our freedoms
in grey oceans of tears
counting our fears
in days, of age-old flowerbeds.
our dry eyelids
gather orbits of young
eyes, made only slightly sweeter by far-away suns.
uncontaminated, gently, arrive our
breaths towards hostile worlds cradling

Abdelkader Daghmoumi was born in Tangiers, Marocco, in 1962. He has a degree in agriculture, and has lived in Italy for twenty-five years. He is author of several collections of poetry, and winner of the poetry section of the Competition of the Italy-Cuba Association for the year 2000.
