Denise Duhamel, nata nel 1961, è cresciuta a Woonsocket, Rhode Island, e ha studiato all'Emerson College e al Sarah Lawrence College. Le sue poesie sono state ampiamente antologizzate e sono apparse in quattro edizioni di The Best American Poetry (nel 1993, 1994, 1998 e 2000). È autrice di 13 volumi di poesia, il più recente dei quali è Queen for a Day: Selected and New Poems (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2001). Ha collaborato con la poetessa Maureen Seaton per due raccolte, Oyl and Exquisite Politics , e con il marito, il poeta Nick Carbó, alla cura dell'antologia Sweet Jesus: Poems about the Ultimate Icon (The Anthology Press, 2002).
